MILFORD, Indiana, U.S.A. — The PIGTEK® Pig Equipment Group recently introduced an animal-friendly gestation stall system for producers who are striving to optimize animal well-being and productivity. These unique gestation stalls are German-engineered and designed to offer superior animal comfort and health while also offering producers new solutions to today’s pig production challenges.

The PIGTEK free-access gestation stalls allow sows to freely walk in and out of individual stalls. This gives sows more opportunity for exercise and helps with keeping them healthier and in better condition. When a sow chooses to enter a stall, the door automatically closes behind her to provide privacy for eating. Sows release themselves from the stall by simply backing up to trigger the release latch.

The innovative PIGTEK stalls can also be turned into self-catching units to temporarily lock sows into the stalls to aid with breeding and pregnancy scanning. When producers have completed such tasks, the sows can be released from the stalls individually or by groups.

The PIGTEK gestation stalls feature an integrated drop feeding system that includes solid steel partitions to reduce competition when eating. The stalls are uniquely angled to save space in the building and to discourage sows from stepping into the feed trough. Constructed of galvanized steel for low maintenance and durability, the stalls are available for new facilities or can be retrofitted to existing sow barns.
